The Power Of Writing: How To Find Motivation To Write
My people, how is your day going? mine is going on well thanks for asking đ€. I am back with another episode of writing and gisting with you guys on todayâs topic which is the Power of Writing and finding motivation to write.
You know, I get many questions about what motivates me to write or some even go ahead and ask how I find time to write. So today, take a seat, a cup of popcorn, and a soft drink but I would like to advise you to bring water instead, your health matters to me đ„°.
So back to the question of the day, The power of writing can be compared to speaking, when we listen to motivational speakers there is a part of our brain that gets activated which I named âthe I can do it part of the brainâ. Likewise writing, when writing all your body and soul are in what you are doing. And there is a saying that You cannot write what you do not read about. Before you write about something you must have read about it. So it is a win-win, what you take in you give out. It is very fun when you enter into a writing zone, you must have heard some writers say they have their writing zone, some get inspiration when everywhere is silent, while some do when everything is so loud. You just need to find you, then you can start to write.
The next part is What motivates you to write? Motivation defers per person. Some personal life, some environment, some friction or movies but the best part is Imaginary. Imagination is the best of all if you can think it, then you can do it. Have you ever wondered how scriptwriters work? I do most times I see a movie and I ask myself what was this writer thinking at this point in time, what was he or she feeling to put this into writing and you know the crazy thing I do again, I go watch Behind Scenes or making of the movies, because I need to know which zone the writer fell into to make this happen and with time I get my answer it all starts from your Imagination. Take some hours off distraction and seat in with yourself, you will find the right answer, it was with you from the very beginning.
There was one of Steve Harvey's talk show I listened to and he said if you think you will be rich, yes you will be, all you have to do is keep telling yourself that every day and add hard work to it, then you will be rich and the only person that can stop the vision is you. So in short this means what you think you can do, then you can.
Let me drop a Personal instance, in school during my undergraduate there was a course named Ordinary Difference Equation(ODE) a 200-level Math course. When I completed my 100 level I reached out to the people ahead of me those in the 200 level going to the 300 Level, to get materials and the needed Information to keep me standing in the next level which was the 200 Level. A lot of people then were like ODE is hard and I have like these ladies they are 3 friends they do their things together. They had an A. I told myself I like hard things because this really helped my brain to get ready for the tedious work and because these guys had Aâs also boasted my morale and behold I came out with 90+ of 100. I wonât tell you the exact score đ but maybe 94 or 95. There was a saying then, that kept me going I am going to have my A and I will know that the âAâ does worth my sleepless night. I am not trying to brag about the score but Iâm trying to encourage us that all good things begin from within. You are the author of your life, so write what you want because life wonât give you the want you desire.
Your life should motivate you, that is what I am saying in essence, you are the very first motivation to yourself and for yourself. If you like to sing, pick up singing, if you like to write, donât think twice, just write and just do it like the Nike logo. Before success, there is always a story, For most people: I was afraid but it came out well, was theirs. The only people others donât talk about are people who do nothing. Take the step today and you will thank yourself tomorrow.
So today, I will be dropping some tips to get the Motivation to write
- Set achievable goals: Break down your writing task into small, achievable goals. This will make your writing seem less daunting and more manageable.
- Find inspiration: Look for inspiration by reading books, articles, or blogs related to your writing topic. This can help you find new ideas and perspectives, and motivate you to write.
- Create a routine: Establish a routine for writing, whether itâs a certain time of day or a certain amount of words per day. This can help you build discipline and momentum.
- Eliminate distractions: Turn off notifications on your phone or computer, find a quiet space to write, and remove any other distractions that might interfere with your focus. You can try the power of Open Space, leave your head space, and go out, well this is for me also, I am an indoor person, I just prefer my space, my self, and my system in the morning and night, just typing away on my keyboard.
- Write for yourself: Focus on the pleasure of writing for yourself, not just the end result. Try to enjoy the process of putting your thoughts into words.
- Get feedback: Share your writing with others and ask for feedback. Positive feedback can be motivating, while constructive criticism can help you improve.
- Use prompts: Use writing prompts to spark your creativity and get your writing juices flowing. There are plenty of online resources that provide writing prompts.
- Reward yourself: Set small rewards for yourself after completing certain writing goals. This can be as simple as taking a short break, having a snack, or watching an episode of your favorite TV show. Remember that motivation can come and go, but itâs important to keep writing even when you donât feel motivated. Building discipline and making writing a habit can help you stay motivated in the long run.
So today, I hope I have been able to motivate you a bit. Please donât forget you are the best Motivation you have.
