The Great Power Behind A Renewed Mindset
Of recent, I got to witness how powerful the human mind is. I woke up some weeks back and asked God what I should do for the day, guide me, and teach me and it came to my mind to learn about mindset. And I was perplexed by that “mindset task”. What is a mindset and how do I even start with that? I checked my Tiktok and behold all I saw was a teaching on mindset and my mind was blown away.
I wrote almost 6 pages in my jotting note about it and later I said let me pause for now. I cannot just learn this without sharing and the funning thing was that I had to start reading about Rich Dad, Poor Dad which I would give you guys a summary of it once done, I’m still in the digestion state. I’ve heard a lot about the writer Robert Kiyosaki, and I was opportune to watch some of his brilliant interviews. Being wowed was an understatement and I am glad that my path was directed by the Lord because I’ve not felt fulfilled like this for a while. And I’m so grateful that today was not like every other day but a changed mindset. So get ready to learn one or two with me today.
So we would be going through some of the points today on mindset, but before then, let us talk about what mindset means.
A person’s mindset is defined as a collection of thoughts, feelings, and viewpoints that influence how they see the world, how they understand it, how they react to different circumstances, and how they behave. It includes a person’s thoughts, feelings, and way of life in general. A person’s perspective has a significant impact on their drive, resiliency, problem-solving skills, and success in a variety of areas of life.
I got to know that mindset is divided into 2:
- The Fixed Mindset
- The Growth Mindset
Before I go deep into the explanation, a quick question, which of the two categories do you think you fall into? Don’t worry if you do not have an answer now, you would get to know which one your mind showcases by default before the end of today’s write-up because I wasn’t sure at first also 🤗.
- Fixed Mindset: The idea that traits, skills, and intelligence are innate and immutable is what defines a fixed mindset. People with a fixed mindset frequently shun challenges or risks that can expose their perceived limitations because they prefer to view their traits as fixed entities. When presented with challenges, they could view failure as a sign of their weakness and give up readily. Because it inhibits the desire to learn, take on new challenges, and welcome change, this mindset can be detrimental to one’s personal growth and development.
- Growth Mindset: Without further explanation, we all know what growth itself stands for. A growth mindset, on the other hand, is defined by the conviction that skills and intelligence can be improved through hard work, education, and perseverance. People who have a growth mentality welcome challenges, view setbacks as teaching moments, and have faith in their capacity to get better over time. They tend to have a more positive attitude in life, are open to feedback and constructive criticism, and have a strong drive for personal development. This way of thinking promotes perseverance, drive, and a love of lifelong learning.
By now I am certain you already have a stand, do you fall under The Fixed Mindset person don’t beat yourself up, you can work on your mindset and develop a growth mindset and this leads us to how to develop a growth mindset. I would be sharing 5 solid ways for us to develop a Growth mindset. They are CANES:
- Cultivate Resilience
- Adopt a Positive Attitude
- Nurture Curiosity and Love of Learning
- Embrace Failure
- Seek Feedbacks And Learn From Others
Cultivate Resilience
This is learning how to adjust to new situations and recover from failures and hardships. It involves developing the mental and emotional fortitude to handle stress, conquer challenges, and keep a positive viewpoint in the face of difficulty. People do not naturally possess resilience; rather, it is a talent that can be acquired and improved over time. Here are some essential guidelines for building resilience, named C2Ps:
- Create a Supportive Network: Surround yourself with a network of supportive individuals who can provide encouragement, advice, and assistance during difficult times. Having a strong support system can help you feel connected, understood, and motivated.
- Practice Self-Care: Take care of your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Engage in activities that promote relaxation, stress reduction, and self-reflection. Prioritize sleep, exercise, and healthy eating. Set boundaries and allocate time for activities that bring you joy and rejuvenation.
- Positive Thinking: Cultivate a positive mindset and challenge negative self-talk. Focus on your strengths, achievements, and potential solutions rather than dwelling on problems and failures. Practice gratitude and mindfulness to enhance your overall perspective and emotional well-being.
This leads us to the next point Adopt a Positive Attitude, kindly note a positive thinking would lead to a positive attitude because what you think, you become.
Adopt a Positive Attitude
A positive attitude changes everything about a situation or a person, to have a changed mindset the evidence is Positive Attitude Adoption. You have to see the good in people and things/conditions irrespective of what the circumstances are, it is all about your point of view and no one can make you bad if you don’t allow it. Get it all together and put on your positive cap and smile off the negative vibes.
Let us take a step out of the mindset and take a look at how the butterfly is formed. The only thing we see is the beautiful butterfly and have you thought about the difficulties the butterfly passed through from egg, down to larva and then adult? Out of 100 butterfly eggs only 1 or 2 butterfly eggs live to become adult butterflies and does this stop their beautiful nature? No, so back to the topic at hand mindset, I just want you to know if you think you would shine and surely you would.
Nurture Curiosity and Love of Learning
Cultivate a thirst for knowledge and a genuine curiosity about the world around you. Be open to new ideas, perspectives, and experiences. Continuously seek opportunities to learn and develop new skills. Go for what you think you cannot do, try it, fail and fail big, pick it up again, and try over and over. You would get a result at the end of the day. Reach out to people doing your trials and they would help to put you on the right track. Also practicing critical thinking would help the brain to think in a wider range.
Embrace Failure
In Nurture Curiosity and Love of Learning I made mentioned of fail and failing big, yes don’t be afraid of failure I know most times our minds get in the way of our heads and we just fail to try. When we don’t even know if we would fail or win. Have you tried to take time to study the Metamorphosis phase of birds, especially their young ones, birds aren’t born flying ready, yes they have their wings which are meant to be an automatic flying ticket. They still need to undergo training which is also a try-and-error approach. The young ones try today, fall, fail, and keep on trying till when there is a success.
And I would love to tell us all that there is always failure attached to every success story. So own both the success and the failure that comes alongside it.
Seek Feedbacks And Learn From Others
A quick one, no one is perfect, so embrace people’s criticism with your full body, mind, and soul. Learn from the bad criticism and don’t take them to heart. The good ones embrace them and don’t be too engrossed in the happy moment, learn from it also. With reasonable criticisms which is the fuel to push on and make more things work in your favor.
It is a great gift to get people to review your growth so that you get to know where you are lacking and where to put more effort. You just can’t get it wrong with the right people around you.
How was today’s learning, I hope you were able to learn one or two and please don’t miss out on my next write-ups.
Thanks for reading to the end. Much love from your home girl.
I would be dropping my pen today with “You are the main driver to your mind, control it towards greatness.”
