My Medical Curiosity: A Guide to Understanding Your Health
My fellow people, What stupid thing have you tried doing before?, me going to the hospital without any pointed sickness/symptoms, my mind just wanting to go and I went š¤£. Let me gist you, you suppose to know how we they roll na, you guys are my gist partner, so here come the gist la hot.
For some weeks my mind has been in the hospital which is unlike me, if it is my normal self I hate the smell of the hospital and my body and soul reaching out to the hospital, ha unbelievable š, as you know I am a curious cat I went to the hospital to fulfill all righteousness.
On getting there, I informed the nurse that came to attend to me that I am there to carry out a full body checkup the nurse was surprised and asked again what is wrong with me and I had to repeat the same thing over, then she took my family card to the doctor. Some minutes after, she asked me to go see the doctor. Reaching the doctorās table he asked if there was anything wrong with me, my reply was no, so he asked again if Iād had the full body checkup before and I answered No.
In school, I hated going to the clinic even for visits but I still went most times to greet and check the well-being of people. I donāt know if it's just me, but the smell of the hospital makes me fall ill sometimes and this created something in me indirectly, I canāt call it a phobia because I couldnāt pinpoint it. I pray for everyone out there facing one challenge or the other, the Lord himself will attend to your case and you are all healed in Jesus's Name(Amen).
The only time, I was done strong thing for was when I followed my bestie to the hospital for her checkup and I was like let me also do a genotype test. Naso, I got admitted for malaria and typhoid alongside my friend š¤£. Ha, who does this š. It wasnāt a funny matter, we were in 400 level writing our projects and we were to submit chapters 1ā3 a week from then. We had to carry our system and everything to the clinic, after collecting the drip, and the next thing is to carry the project, and thank God we already have the Chapters down just reviewing and making necessary corrections, if not I wonāt agree to be admitted oo š¤£.
In another scenario I followed my sister to the hospital to carry out the test for her maid then and a woman with a drip fell directly at my front while trying to help her, her blood touched me I was so afraid, and that even added to my fear of going to the hospital. To cut a long story short, I went to the hospital today, help me shout hallelujah šš¤£.
The funny part of me going to the hospital was that, I forgot that they do take a blood sample if you want to carry out some tests, I was dancing without music when the nurse wanted to draw out my blood, my heart was directly in my mouth because I donāt like needles. Well, before now I do say I like drugs more than injections but now I donāt like any again š. God should heal everyone that is sick and continue to strengthen those that are weak. Injection or drip is not friendly at all not to talk about those chalks we call drugs.
So what I want us to draw out today is to always have a plan for regular checkups and please listen to your mind, what I learned from listening to my mind was that I was able to overcome the fear of the hospital and that of needle and I am not saying I like needles now but the fear is off my mind. So this new year all fears, I am on the journey to take them off me, so help me God, Amen š .
The Following Are Some Of The Basic Medical Check-Ups To Carry Out
Heart Rate
A regular check of the heart is essential, I know most of us donāt do this check-up, including myself. But there is a simple activity we can be carrying out daily like taking a deep breath, I mean a deep in and out breathing. If you notice any issues during this, please reach out to your doctor.
Blood pressure monitoring
Regular monitoring of blood pressure at home using a reliable blood pressure monitor can help individuals keep track of their blood pressure readings and detect any potential hypertension (high blood pressure) early, which is a risk factor for various health conditions.
Blood glucose monitoring
For individuals with diabetes or at risk of diabetes, regular monitoring of blood glucose levels at home using a blood glucose meter can help assess blood sugar control and guide appropriate management strategies.
Oral self-examination
Monthly oral self-examinations can help detect any unusual sores, lumps, or changes in color or texture of the mouth, tongue, gums, or throat that may warrant further evaluation for oral health issues, including oral cancer.
Mental health check-in
Monitoring oneās mental health on a monthly basis, including being aware of changes in mood, energy levels, sleep patterns, and stress levels, can help individuals identify any potential mental health concerns and seek appropriate support if needed.
Skin self-examination
Monthly skin self-examinations can help detect any new moles, changes in size, shape, color, or texture of existing moles, or other skin abnormalities that may indicate skin cancer or other skin conditions.
Menstrual cycle tracking
For my female gender, tracking the menstrual cycle on a monthly basis can provide valuable information about the regularity, duration, and symptoms associated with the menstrual cycle, which can be helpful in identifying any irregularities or potential reproductive health issues. If you are using an iPhone, it can help keep track of your menstrual cycle, just a hint š¤.
There are a lot more basic medical check-ups that can be carried out on a monthly basis like eye checkups and many more depending on age groups. Likewise, we can start to exercise to help keep the body in shape. Some say 3ā5 times a week, but I would like to tell you if you can cultivate the habit of stretching out every morning or taking a 30-minute walk. The main thing is to move your body and do it consistently. I pray for good health for everyone reading this and a rapid recovery for everyone sick worldwide.
A quick take home, health is wealth, take care of yourself because your health is your first priority, and every other thing comes second.
